Dr. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay, MD, FRCSC

Specializing in Breast & Body Procedures

Trust, Expertise, Experience

For over thirty years, Dr. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay and the staff at Banff Plastic Surgery have been practising cosmetic surgery with care and professionalism in beautiful Alberta. We have helped thousands of women feel better about their appearance with procedures specifically geared toward the breasts and body. Dr Hall-Findlay believes that surgery is the best solution to many of her patients’ concerns. Most machines and gimmicks over-promise and under-deliver.

Experience and Education

Dr. Elizabeth Hall-Findlay has been practising plastic surgery in Alberta since 1983.

“I am fortunate that I have always truly enjoyed my profession,” said Dr. Hall-Findlay. “I love the design element in plastic surgery.”

She has had extensive training in both aesthetic (cosmetic) and reconstructive surgery in both Canada and the United States. Dr. Hall-Findlay completed her plastic surgery residency in San Francisco and New York City. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCSC) and she is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. She has also served as a senior examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

Educator and Innovator

Dr. Hall-Findlay’s contributions to breast surgery are recognized around the world as the “Hall-Findlay” technique. Her procedure for breast reductions and breast lifts (with or without an implant) provides a better and more long lasting breast shape with fewer scars (lollipop rather than anchor scars). She has been asked to present and perform surgery for teaching purposes around the world – in fact, she has performed surgical demonstrations on every continent except Antarctica!  The American Plastic Surgery Society recognized her contributions to plastic surgery with a prestigious “Special Achievement” award (given to only one plastic surgeon a year) in 2010. Her textbook on breast surgery, Aesthetic Breast Surgery – Principles and Techniques,  was published in 2010 and she has received awards for her editorial work on other textbooks. She is frequently asked for her expert opinion and discussion of published articles in the major plastic surgery journals and she has served on the editorial board of the two major plastic surgery journals.

She is asked to give teaching courses and workshops at the annual American Plastic Surgery meetings on breast reduction, breast augmentation, breast lifts, breast lifts with implants and breast re-reduction. She has also presented on the successful use of quilting sutures with tummy tucks. Her most recent publications were an article on breast re-reduction called “The Principles of Breast Re-reduction: A Reappraisal” in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, as well as an article on “Aesthetic Breast Surgery: What do the measurements reveal?” in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. These are the two most prestigious journals in the world. She also published an article on “Drainless Abdominoplasty” in the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery newsletter. She has also had over 30 chapters published in several well-established plastic surgery textbooks. Just in the past year (2020), this has included the “Principles of Aesthetic Breast Surgery”, “Superomedial Vertical Breast Reduction”, “Alternative Approaches in Breast Reduction”, “Principles of Mastopexy”, “Vertical Breast Reduction and Re-Reduction”, and “Mastopexy Techniques: Principles”.

Her chapters and articles have been translated into multiple languages, with the latest having been in a couple of different textbooks in China.

She is in demand for instructional webinars and the more recent ones (just in the last half of 2020) included ones held in Amsterdam (Netherlands), Mumbai (India), Brussels (Belgium), Leuven (Belgium), London (England), Leon (Mexico) Washington DC, Atlanta, New York and Wisconsin.

Her full CV (Curriculum Vitae) can be accessed HERE.

Dr. Hall-Findlay gives workshops in Banff for plastic surgeons to learn her techniques in breast and body contouring procedures as well as labiaplasty.

A Specialist

“These are the procedures I love and look forward to performing,” Dr. Hall-Findlay says simply when asked why she focuses exclusively on cosmetic breast and abdominal surgery. She has helped thousands of women feel better about their bodies, from mothers in Ft. McMurray and Calgary, to grandmothers from British Columbia and Saskatchewan, and teenagers from Edmonton and Red Deer. And while her reputation as a specialist has created an international demand for her services she restricts her practice to patients in her local area of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.
