Your First Visit

We try to give patients as much time as they need for a proper evaluation and discussion with all questions answered, so be prepared to spend a few hours in the office. The decisions we will be discussing are quite important, and we want to be sure you are comfortable with the final assessment. Many patients find that one consultation appointment is sufficient but we are more than happy to see patients again to review any outstanding issues. Many questions can be handled over the phone by our administrative staff.

Our cosmetic surgery consultations are held in our office in beautiful Canmore, Alberta. The consultation is a fact-finding session that will help you more fully understand all of the factors that affect a decision to have surgery. This exchange of information is our process for creating a treatment plan that you can follow and understand. It is important for you to know what to expect at each stage of the process.

There is a fee for the consultation that will be collected upon your arrival. This fee is for the consultation only and is not applied later to a surgery fee. We do not want you to feel any pressure to commit to having surgery. There is no fee for a second consultation or for any follow-up visits.

Our Facilities

Parking

There is plenty of free parking in the lot to the east of our building, as well as on the street, both with no time restriction.

Mineral Springs Hospital

Dr Hall-Findlay performs all her surgery at the Mineral Springs Hospital, where patients enjoy the relative privacy of a 25-bed facility with one to two beds per room, and the attentive service that comes with a small ward. For procedures performed in Mineral Springs Hospital, there is not the same urgency to discharge patients that exists in the city hospitals. Our patients enjoy the view from their rooms or the outdoor deck that overlooks the river. Even the food is enjoyable. CBC food critic John Gilchrist reviewed the hospital’s food a few years ago and was impressed. His only complaint: they did not serve wine!

An Emphasis on Privacy and Comfort

Banff Plastic Surgery is located at 106, 75 Dyrgas Gate, Canmore. Our patients enjoy the emphasis our office places on privacy and comfort – our waiting area is often called “the Living Room.” Staffed by professionals and equipped with the best technology for patient care, we maintain the high standards set by Dr. Hall-Findlay and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. A staff member is always available to assist our patients.

“I give my cell phone number to all my patients,” said Dr. Hall-Findlay. “Our patients can always reach the staff during the day or they can reach me after hours.”

Private one-on-one consultation

Patients are required to come alone to their appointment.

Photography in the Consultation

We do take photographs during the consultation so that Dr. Hall-Findlay can explain individual issues and results.

Dr. Hall-Findlay will point out what kind of results can be obtained with different approaches and draw on the photos to illustrate certain points. These photos are completely protected as part of the medical record and never shown to anyone else without your explicit permission. You may decline to have your photo taken, of course, but we find that patients are far more comfortable in the end with the enhanced assessment and information.

After the Consultation

After the consultation, our patient coordinator will provide you with all the organizational details such as fees and scheduling information during your meeting with her. She will give you an idea of the time required to book surgery once a decision has been made to go ahead.

Places to See and Stay in Banff and Canmore

Most of our patients come to see Dr. Hall-Findlay and leave shortly after their appointment. Our patients who are interested in exploring Banff and Canmore typically plan a vacation around their consultation or a post-operative appointment.

Our patients receive a discount at the Bow View Lodge, which is located just blocks from the Mineral Springs Hospital in Banff. We do not endorse a specific hotel, but our patients tell us they enjoy the convenience and affordability of the Bow View Lodge when staying in Banff for an operation. For a more upscale experience with similar convenience to our office, our patients have suggested their sister hotel, Banff Park Lodge, which includes the Peaks Hotel and Suites.

Through the Banff Lodging Company we can offer our patients discounts at various area resorts and hotels. Use promo code BANFFPS to receive a discount.

Bringing your children? MyHotelSitter.com provides baby-sitting in your hotel. Many of our patients have used the service while they attended appointments.

If you are interested in exploring Banff National Park or using park amenities, you will need to purchase a park pass. For more information: Banff National Park.
