Your First Visit
We try to give patients as much time as they need for a proper evaluation and discussion with all questions answered, so be prepared to spend a few hours in the office. The decisions we will be discussing are quite important, and we want to be sure you are comfortable with the final assessment. Many patients find that one consultation appointment is sufficient but we are more than happy to see patients again to review any outstanding issues. Many questions can be handled over the phone by our administrative and nursing staff. If not, we can arrange another face-to-face meeting.
Our cosmetic surgery consultations are held in our offices in beautiful Banff, Alberta. The consultation is a fact-finding session that will help you more fully understand all of the factors that affect a decision for surgery. This exchange of information is our process for creating a treatment plan that you can follow and understand. It is important for you to know what to expect at each stage of the process.
There is a fee for the consultation that will be collected upon your arrival. This fee is for the consultation only and is not applied later to a surgery fee. We do not want you to feel any pressure to commit to having surgery.
Parking at Cascade Shops
You may only use your assigned parking stall during your appointment. Please remove your vehicle immediately after your appointment, so that we can accommodate other patients’ parking needs.
Access is from Marten Street (behind the Cascade Plaza). Once you are parked, take the stairs marked in yellow to Level 5A. Enter at Level 5A and go through the next door to the left of the elevator. This is the office level. We are located in Suite #340. Click here for a diagram.
Consultation adapted to your needs and wishes
Individual consultations are not restricted to a private one-on-one. You do have the option to include your partner or family member in our discussion. As an example, a younger girl with breast unevenness might prefer to have her mother accompany her for the discussions but not for the actual examination.
Photography in the Consultation
We do take photographs during the consultation so that Dr. Hall-Findlay and Dr. MacLennan can explain individual issues and results.
Our surgeons will point out what kind of results can be obtained with different approaches and draw on the photos to illustrate certain points. These photos are completely protected as part of the medical record and never shown to anyone else without your explicit permission. You may decline to have your photo taken, of course, but we find that patients are far more comfortable in the end with the enhanced assessment and information.
After the Consultation
After the consultation, our patient coordinator will provide you with all the organizational details such as fee and scheduling information during your meeting with her. She will give you an idea of the time required to book surgery once a decision has been made to go ahead.
