Visiting in Summer

July 17, 2019

A cosmetic procedure that’s appropriate and based on your needs can be one of the best investments you can make in yourself. Patients not only have the enhanced look, which they deserve, but also enjoy a sense of relief, confidence and positivity that can be difficult to achieve in any other way. The results of a carefully selected procedure can also provide satisfaction that lasts years. When you have your treatment performed by a well-qualified and highly-experienced physician, like Dr Hall-Findlay, patients often enjoy transformative outcomes. A doctor’s visit is not the only way you can treat yourself, change your outlook and gain a new perspective on life, however.

It’s no secret that travel can have a similarly transformative effect on us — changing our daily rhythms and how we see other people and life itself. We don’t need to cross oceans or spend large sums of money, either; even a brief weekend trip to a new city can give us all of these benefits. Calgary residents have many such opportunities easily available to them, and among the best get-aways they can have are Banff and Canmore, which are less than two hours away by car. In fact, getting to these two locales can be just as enjoyable an experience as being there. You can get the best of both worlds while you’re in town, too, by scheduling an in-person consultation with Dr. Hall-Findlay at Banff Plastic Surgery.

Canmore has the best of everything — for every taste

Canmore is one of Canada’s most visited tourist destinations because it offers something for just about everyone.

Food

Surrounded by nature, it probably comes as no surprise that Canmore’s food offerings are unparalleled in all of Canada. Whether you seek farm-to-table offerings or the latest in global-fusion cuisine, you will find a restaurant for your tastes in Canmore. For example, enjoy one of the area’s most innovative and pan-cultural menus at Blake, a restaurant in an industrial space that boasts spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. An Edible Life, on the other hand, offers an equally vibrant menu with a focus on local, organic and whole foods that are as natural as they are delicious. Can’t decide — sign up for one of the area’s many “food tours” for a wide sampling of the area’s best. If you want breakfast all day Chez Francois is not to be missed. Their crepes with leave your mouth watering and wanting more. A local favorite is Crazy Weed – you can’t miss it- it’s the only restaurant in town that has a lawn growing on their roof! The food speaks for itself.

Culture

History buffs can visit the Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre, which focuses on capturing and retelling the stories of the landscape and coal mining communities of this unique region. For a contemporary view, you can find local artists showcased at two venues, the Carter-Ryan and Avens galleries, both located in downtown Canmore. Place offers the community a free gallery and events space, where you can partake in everything from theatre and musical performances to movies.

Shopping

A destination as well-visited as Canmore includes numerous shopping destinations for everything you need and desire. From premium outdoor gear to high fashion and specialty arts-and-crafts, you can find gifts for the hardest-to-please tastes and, of course, yourself, with ease in Canmore. You can get away without spending anything, however; an afternoon of window-shopping here is a reward in itself.

The Outdoors Is Very “In” in Banff

If you have a special taste for outdoor adventure, you won’t be disappointed in Banff. Banff enjoys some of the most breathtaking natural wonders in all of Canada and, perhaps, the world.

Hiking Banff

Perhaps the single best way to appreciate what Banff has to offer is through a hike. The area’s rich assortment of mountains, pines, wildflower fields, waterfalls, lakes and summit views ensure that, no matter which trail you take, you will be rewarded with natural beauty that will make life-long memories. Hikes range from the casual to the expert level and you will do well to choose your path carefully for maximum enjoyment. Parks Canada’s website can give you all the information you need to find the perfect hike for you and your group. You can even find the perfect spot for a picnic if that’s your ultimate goal.

Canoeing on Lake Louise and Moraine Lake

If being on the water is your thing, you won’t find a better outing anywhere than the lakes of Banff. While glacier-fed lakes are always too cold to swim — yes, even in summer — you can canoe the lakes for a couple of hours of peace and serenity in nature’s splendor. Surrounded by rugged mountains on uninterrupted turquoise waters, you may find it hard to believe that such tranquility is so close to the urban bustle of Calgary. You can replenish yourself afterward or start your trip off with fine food and refreshments at the nearby Fairmont Chateau or Moraine Lake Lodge.

Icefields Parkway

For those who want to enjoy nature without breaking a sweat, you can soak all of Banff in with a scenic drive down Icefields Parkway. From the road, you can revel in the landscape’s rich array of sparkling lakes, mammoth glaciers, open sky and seemingly endless mountain ranges. The road travels along Highway 93 from Lake Louise to Jasper but you don’t have to take the entire trek to experience why people come (and keep coming) to Banff; a drive to Peyto Lake and back can give you a healthy taste of what this unique and awe-inspiring region has to offer. Wildlife sightings including bears, mountain goats and big horn sheep are common on this journey, so keep your eyes peeled.

Your total wellness is the top priority at Banff Plastic Surgery!

At Banff Plastic Surgery, our primary goal is to see that every patient is satisfied with their look and enjoying the best of health. A well-planned and safe surgery is just the beginning. We know that when individuals look their best, they feel their best, too. This is why Dr. Hall-Findlay places such a strong emphasis on developing an open and honest relationship with each one of her patients; when patients can speak openly about their concerns, they enable their surgeon, armed with this detailed information, to make the best possible recommendation. Just as with your travel arrangements, however, you are always the final decision-maker — this is your journey — but we want to help you make the best and most informed choice. When you reach your final destination, we want you to be the best version of yourself you can be.
